Teachers paid £27 million in compensation in 2014

During the last year teachers have been awarded more than £27 million in compensation due to suffering physical or psychological abuse or being discriminated against.

Some of the compensation awarded includes £86,000 to a 32 year old teacher and £124,000 to a 55 year old teacher who both suffered physical assaults and injuries in the classroom.

The compensation claim data was complied by the TES and published by the ATL, NUT and NASUWT teaching unions. The claims amount to a little over £27 million in total.
