Pupil profiles to remain compulsory after another assessment U-turn

The government has announced a total U-turn over plans to abolish the early years foundation stage profile and schools will continue to assess 4 and 5 year old pupils starting at school.

The standards were set to become redundant from September 2016 after the plans were announced by the Department for Education in 2014. The decision to stick with the current format was due to an eagerness to “provide continuity and stability for schools, pupils and parents.
