A headteachers guide to telling the story of your exam results day

It’s mid August again and if you are a headteacher then you will, over the next few weeks, be invaded by the local media wanting to report on the latest sets of exam results.

There isn’t purely the worry of potentially disappointing results but also how sterile the whole story has become with the focus generally on those who have achieved A and A* grades.

Here are 3 key tips to handling the day and telling a fuller story covering more students.

1) Know your local media and make sure they are at your schools with journalists and photographers.
2) Focus on individuals with unique stories.
3) Think of the legacy and document as much as you can with photo’s videos and social media coverage.
