Schools and teachers are facing a tough and challenging future – Angela Rayner

Labour’s shadow education secretary Angela Rayner has issued a stark and bleak outlook for the future of our schools.

She highlights funding cuts. teachers supply and the governments commitment to grammar schools as the main areas of her concern. For the first time in a generation schools will actually face real term cuts in funding as the schools budget will not be protected in real terms and it will also not rise over the course of this parliament.

The DFE has said that schools need to find savings or cuts that will amount to approximately £3 billion or the equivalent to an 8% real term reduction in funding per pupil.
