Love him or hate him – Michael Gove was a game changer???
Michael Gove has left a legacy which will be debated over for years to come. Did he revolutionise the existing education system fro the foundations up in a positive or negative way.
This question will divide opinions across the board with arguments for and against the improvement to students learning and also the effect the reforms have had on the teaching profession itself.
On the one hand he can be viewed as a visionary who took on the education establishment, broke up the existing domination of schools being run by LAs and abolished the “Mickey Mouse” qualifications in favour of more relevant measure such as the English baccalaureate. The flip side is that many students needs are ignored and nothing has been done to create viable vocational options that are relevant and current in toady’s society.
