UK has the second best education system in Europe according to new global rankings

According to a new global report on education ranking the UK education system has the second best education system in Europe and the sixth best in the world.

The new Learning Curve Index, published by Pearson, ranks countries on the performance of their educational systems and has the UK second only to Finland in Europe with the top spots going to South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong respectively.

Sir Michael Barber, the man who produced the figures said the UK would perform even better again if pupils were not categorised as those who are “born bright” and those who are “not academic”. He claims that students are held back by parents who believe intelligence is inherited.
